Cluster at Kew Gardens
A charming small oil on canvas depicting a Rosa Bonica cluster seen at Kew Gardens. This is one of Trevor’s favourite English Roses to paint. The canvas shows these flowers in a sunny disposition using a dramatic range of tones. The colourations are subtle in their variations and the application of brushwork is “Bravura” in style. Painted Alla Prima, or in one session, this highly decorative piece packs a punch, for it’s size, 12″ x 12″. ” I painted it to accompany a group of watercolours of mine done for Kew Gardens, that appear in my latest book ” Kew Gardens Book of Painting Roses in Watercolour” ( Published by Search Press. Publishing date 2020 ).
