Grand Bazaar Entrance Istanbul Oil on canvas 16″x 12″
A rainy day in wintery Istanbul with reflections and coloured lights. The entrance with figures looking at shops, is painted contre- jour in coloured broken patches. Trevor has captured the neon lights and their bright illumination of the scene. The mosaic-like effect of the paint depicting the street in the foreground is neatly intermingled with the reflections and figures above. The structure of the building has been described with economy and accuracy. This dramatic work is both colourful and full of movement and atmosphere. The yellows and reds at full strength dominate the whole structure forcing the viewer to see them as focal.
