” I spent some time in the Atlas Mountains, Morocco, gathering information and reference material for future paintings, this work represents a typical daily event of people riding mules or donkeys from one pace to another. I think it must be the preferred mode of transport as orthodox roadways for cars have a tendency to disappear into dirt tracks. The things that impressed me the most in these regions were the simple way of life and the magnificent, ever changing colours of the landscape. I kept a watercolour journal on these travels and still use it as a major source of reference.”
