Oil painting on board of a Scottish Highland stream with rocks in the foreground under a brooding and mysterious sky. A dramatic sweep of foreground water rushes towards mountains and an enigmatic sky, in this composition. There is a wonderful sense of location in the choice of colours for this landscape ; Blues and greys with just a hint of yellow to herald an early spring on the banks of the stream. An atmospheric mist can be seen rolling of the mountains to further increase the sense of space. There is a wildness in the weather although the sun breaks through in the central area of the painting.
