The Egyptian Reed Gatherer / Oil on canvas

Description

Oil painting showing a boy sitting on a white donkey after gathering up reeds from the Nile. Reeds are gathered from the river Nile by young boys to be used in the manufacture of papyrus. This is a tradition that has been practiced for thousands of years in Egypt. This work by Trevor was inspired by a painting trip to Egypt: including Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel. This trip culminated in a show entitled ” Egypt and Beyond ” held at Trevor’s studio.
