The Grand Canal Venice Watercolour
Venice is one of Trevor’s favourite places. The viewpoint is from the Academia bridge famous for it’s wooden structure and the first to span the Grand Canal from the customs house, La Dogana, seen in the picture. A classic view of the church “Santa Maria Della Salute” dominates the painting and gives it the focal point. Statuesque gondolas can be seen in the foreground gliding up and down the Grand Canal. The palaces are seen in heavy cast shadow from the late afternoon sun. This watercolour is currently being used in reproduction for John Lewis and TK Max as prints.
